Influential Drone projects

Hey so I have a basic understanding of what drone is, but if someone were to ask me what some cool drone bands are, I can only refer the person to songs that I've recorded or SUNN. What are some influential drone bands that started the genre and continually impact?

Pretty much this. Earth, Sunn O))) and Boris (although only a fragment of what Boris does is drone) are the three big names in drone.

There's also KTL (hardly influential, but it exists) which is Stephen O'Malley from Sunn O))) but overall the project is significantly better than Sunn O))) in my honest opinion.

Does Burning Witch count? Or Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine?

Another really well known drone project is Black Boned Angel. But I don't like them much. Their drone itself is actually quite good, but the tone is so bad and hollow the tracks have no depth and ultimately sound awful because of it.

daniel menche and kevin drumm have some drone albums from years ago that were really good. robedoor was (is?) amazing drone. oren ambarchi, too. and there was an album by orthodox (from spain) on southern lord that was at least decent.

i like zenjungle a lot, too. different kind of drones, tho...
